ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 37
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS, BY ADDING SECTION 37-57.1 ESTABLISH-
ING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON ALL
STREETS WITHIN THE BEAUMONT CITY LIMITS AT
30 MILES PER HOUR UNLESS SIGNED OTHERWISE
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 37 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; PROVIDING
A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Chapter 37 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont,
Texas, is hereby amended by adding a new Section 37-57.1 as
follows:
"Sec. 37-57.1.
Prima Facie Speed Limits.
Upon the basis of engineering and traffic
investigation, the prima facie speed limit on
all streets within the city limits of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, shall be 30 miles per
hour unless signed otherwise in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter 37 of the Code
of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas."

That any -person who violates any provision of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in
Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect
the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the
various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared
to be severable.
4.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
