ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING
A PORTION OF GORMAN STREET FROM THE SOUTH LINE
OF FLORIDA AVENUE TO THE NORTH LINE OF THE
CARDINAL DRIVE (LOOP 251) SERVICE ROAD AS MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN; PROVIDING THAT
SUCH ABANDONMENT SHALL IN NO WAY AFFECT CERTAIN
EASEMENT FOR SANITARY SEWER PURPOSES ONLY, DATED
AUGUST 12, 19713 AND ACCEPTED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT THIS DATE, AS SET FORTH HEREIN:
WHEREAS, Gladys City Company has requested that portion
of Gorman Street from the south line of Florida Avenue to the
north line of the Cardinal Drive (Loop 251) Service Road, as
more particularly described herein, be vacated and abandoned;
and,
WHEREAS, said requests have been referred to the Plan-
ning and Zoning Commission of The City of Beaumont for exam-
ination and approval, and the same have been approved by said
Commission; and,
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to
the best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit to the
public that the hereinafter described portion of Gorman Street
be vacated and abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That the following described portion of Gorman Street in The
City of Beaumont, Texas, be and the same is hereby vacated and
abandoned and that title to said portion of said vacated and
abandoned street shall revert to and become the property of
the person entitled thereto, as provided by law, said portion
being described as follows:

Being that portion of Gorman Street which lies
north of Cardinal Drive (Loop 251) and south of
Florida Avenue in Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, and being more particularly described as
follows:
BEGINNING at a 3/4 inch iron rod marking the
intersection of the south line of Florida
Avenue and the westerly line of Gorman Street,
an 80 ft. wide street right-of-way;
THENCE south 26039'10" east 156.55 ft., more or
less, to a 5/8 inch iron rod for corner on the
northerly line of the Cardinal Drive (Loop 251)
service road;
THENCE south 70°24'05" east along the northerly
line of the Cardinal Drive (Loop 251) service
road., a distance of 115.69 ft., more or less,
to a 5/8 inch iron rod for corner;
THENCE north 26039'10"'west along the easterly
line of Gorman Street, an 80 foot wide street
right-of-way, a distance of 200.34 feet, more or
less, to a 5/8 inch iron rod for corner on the
south line of Florida Avenue;
THENCE south 89°50'00" west along the south line
of Florida Avenue a distance of 89.34 feet, more
or less, to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, containing
in area 14,248.4 sq, ft. of land, or 0.32 acres,
more or less.
Provided, however, that the vacating and abandoning of said
portion of said street shall not be construed as abandoning
and shall in no way affect the easement for sanitary sewer pur-
poses only granted by Gladys City Company to The City of Beaumont
on August 12, 1971, and accepted by The City of Beaumont this
date, across property in the said street hereby abandoned;
the rights granted in said easement for sanitary sewer purposes
only --being expressly reserved.
