HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 71-44ORDINANCE NO. 008642 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF "V" STREET BETWEEN THE PROPOSED DOWLEN ROAD EXTENSION RIGHT OF WAY AT THE. NORTHERLY LINE OF SAID PROPOSED RIGHT OF WAY AND THE RELOCATED ABANDONED MISSOURI PACIFIC RIGHT OF WAY, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN. WHEREAS, "V" Street North of Calder Avenue has never been developed or opened as an official street; and, WHEREAS, the vacation and abandonment of a portion of "V" Street, more particularly described. herein, immediately North of the proposed Dowlen Road extension right of way has been approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Beaumont; and, WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is in the best interest of the City of Beaumont and benefit to the public that the herein described portion of "V" Street be vacated and abandoned; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: That the following described portion of "V" Street in the City of Beaumont, Texas, be and the same is hereby, vacated and abandoned and that title to said portion of said vacated and abandoned street shall revert to and become the property of the person entitled thereto as provided by law, said portion of "V" Street being described as follows: BEING "V" Street North of the northerly line of Calder Avenue, SAVE AND EXCEPT the following, which is expressly retained by the City of Beaumont: BEING a 0.389 acre tract out of and a part of a 50 foot street known as "V" Street between Blocks 2 and 3 of the Weiss Park Addition in the C. Williams Survey, Jefferson County, Texas, as per a- 71- z^1 9-31-71 1-�"7 F -3I t q7 I unrecorded map thereof, the 0.389 acres herein retained being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows, to wit: BEGINNING at an iron stake for corner in the easterly line of said "V" Street, in the north line of Calder Avenue also being the southwesterly corner of said Block 2 in the southwesterly corner of that certain 7.032 acre tract conveyed to George H. Echols by instrument recorded in Volume 260, page 478 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas; THENCE along .the easterly line of said "V" Street and the westerly line of said Block 2 and the westerly line of said Echols tract, North 00 39' West 401.87 feet to an iron stake for corner; THENCE tangent to a line bearing South 190 43' West and deflecting to the left along the arc of a curve with a radius of 1200 feet, 181.2 feet to a point for corner in the westerly line of said "V" Street, (chord of said curve bearing South 150 2332,' West 181.0 feet) ; THENCE along the westerly line of said "V" Street and the easterly line of said Block 2 of the Weiss Park Addition, South 00 39' East 259.45 feet to a point in the northerly line of Calder Avenue, said point being the southeasterly corner of a 1.0 acre tract conveyed to C. L. Dismukes by instrument recorded in Volume 258, page 567 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, said point being also the intersection of the northerly line of Calder Avenue and the westerly line of said "V" Street, said point being also the southeasterly corner of said Block 3 of Weiss Park Addition; THENCE along the northerly line of Calder Avenue, North 570 06' East 59.1 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING; Containing 0.389 acres more or less.
