HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 71-59KEWJr/im/10/22/71 0 ORDINANCE NO. ��- ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12-2.1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BY REPEALING SECTION 12-2.1 AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 12-2.1 IN LIEU THEREOF; DESIGNATING CERTAIN DAYS AS OFFICIAL CITY HOLIDAYS; PROVIDING FOR OBSERVANCE OF OFFICIAL CITY HOLIDAYS; PROVIDING THAT HOLIDAYS FALLING IN THE VACATION PERIOD OF AN EMPLOYEE SHALL NOT BE COUNTED AS A PART OF SAID EMPLOYEE'S VACATION LEAVE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PRO- VIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That Section 12-2.1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be repealed and a new Section 12-2.1 be enacted in lieu thereof, which said new Section 12-2.1 shall read as follows: "Sec. 12-2.1. Same—Holidays. (a) The following are designated as holidays to be observed for all city employees occupying permanent positions: (1) New Year's Day; (2) . Good Friday; (3) Memorial Day; (4) Independence Day; (5) Labor Day; (6) Thanksgiving Day; (7) The Friday following Thanksgiving Day; (8) Christmas Day. (b) If the holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on Monday; if the holiday falls on Saturday, it will be observed on Friday. (c) Holidays falling in the vacation period of an employee will not be counted as part of the vacation leave of that employee." Section 2. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular 0-7/--6-9 i/ -a-7 t 9 set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the re- maining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. 1971.
