HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 72-5LN/im/1/4/72 0 r ORDINANCE NO.� ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 37-42 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES ADOPTING THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR STREETS AND HIGHWAYS; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE'IT ORDAINED -BY -THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: 1. The following section of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, is hereby re- pealed: Section 37-42. 2. Chapter 37 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont is hereby amended by enacting a new Section 37-42 to read as follows: "Section 37-42. Manual and specifications, under wiaat circums ances official "All traffic -control signs.., signals and devices shall.conform to :the.Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, Federal Highway A ministration as the National Standard for all highways open to public travel in accordance with Title 23, U. S. Code, Sections 109(b), 109(d) and 402(a). All signs.and signals required hereunder for a particular purpose shall, so far as practical, be uniform as to type and - location throughout the City. All traffic control devices so erected and not inconsistent with the provisions of state law or this Chapter shall be official traffic control devices.11 3. That if any sentence, subsection, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Mayor - -2- ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 37, SECTION 37-58.2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: ESTABLISHING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS, HIGHWAYS OR PORTIONS OF STREETS AND HIGHWAYS: HELBIG ROAD AND PLANT ROAD; AND BY AMENDING THE.LIMITS OF ZONES FOR -OLD VOTH ROAD AND BIGNER ROAD; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: IV Tha.t.Section 37-58.2 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, designated 11Old Voth Road" is hereby amended to read as follows: Street Old Voth Road Limits of Zones Direction Maximum Speed in of Travel Miles Per Hour From the north right -of- North way line of Broad Oak to and the north right-of-way South line of R.F.D. Road 2. 45 That Section 37-58.2 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, designated "Bigner Road" is hereby amended to read as follows: Direction Maximum Speed in Street Limits of Zones of Travel Miles Per Hour Bigner Road From the north right -of- North 35 way line of East Lucas and to a point 500 feet South north of the centerline of Roland Road 3. That Section 37-58.2 of,the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, is hereby amended by adding after the present speed limit and limit of zone for Erie Street prima facie speed limits for Helbig Road and Plant Road to read as follows: Direction Street Limits of Zones of Travel Helbig Road From the north right- North of -way line of East and Lucas to 200' south of South the centerline of Speer Street Plant Road From the centerline of Northeast Avie Lane to the center- and line of McAnelly Drive Southwest 4. Maximum Speed in Miles Per Hour 35 35 That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas. 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of'this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. 301 That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed.
