ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11,
SECTION 11-35(b) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, TO ADOPT THE
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF 1971; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BFA UMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That Chapter 11, Section 11-35 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont,. Texas, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"(b)' Conformity of electrical installations
with the applicable standards set forth
-in the National Electrical Code shall
be prima facie evidence that such in-
stallations are reasonably safe to persons
and property; provided that the provisions
of this Chapter shall prevail over the
National Electrical Code in case of
conflicting provisions. The National
Electrical Code of 1971, adopted by the
National Fire Protection Association, and
all amendments thereof, is hereby adopted,
and the same is hereby made a part of this
Chapter as fully and to the extent as if
copied herein in full. One copy of such
code has been.and now is filed in the
office of the City Clerk." -,
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances should for any
reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no
wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance and to
such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance
are declared to be severable.
Section 3.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
