HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 73-6273 ORDINANCE NO. 73-62 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE ASSESSMENT ROLL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE YEAR 1973 AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE CERTIFICATE THEREON AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. WHEREAS, the Board of Equalization under the date of August 20, 1973, certified the assessment roll of property of the City of Beaumont for the year 1973 by stating that the state - meets contained in the certificate of the Assessor and Collector of the City of Beaumont are true and correct; and, WHEREAS, the certificate of .Leon L. Burnett, Assessor and Collector of the City of Beaumont, certified the assessment roll of property for the year 1973 to be as follows: LAND $116,348,730: IMPROVEMENTS 256,31831760 TOTAL REAL ESTATE $372,667,490 SENIOR CITIZEN HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION -1238765970 (APPROVED BY COUNCIL ACTION) TOTAL ASSESSED REAL ESTATE 3593790,520 PERSONAL PROPERTY 92,0243550 TOTAL 451,8155070 TOTAL TAX. TAX RATE $1.59 $7,183,859.61 and, WHEREAS, the Assessment Roll with the approval of the Board of Equalization has been returned to the City Council and the Council is of the opinion that same is correct and should be approved and adopted as the Assessment Roll to be used for the collection of taxes for the current year; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY. THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. THAT the Assessment Roll of property for the year of 1973, !how- ing total taxable property of $451,815,070, as certified by Leon -L. Burnett, Assessor and Collector, and as certified by the Board of Equalization, is hereby approved and the same is adopted as the Assessment Roll of the City of Beaumont to be used for the collection of taxes for the current year of 1973. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the certificate of. the Tax Assessor and Collector and the Board of Equalization as approved by this Council as of August 20, 1973. Section 2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to be par- ticular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions.of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable..
