ORDINANCE NO. 73-55
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING THE BUILDINGS
LOCATED AT 1530 EVALON STREET, THE SAME BE-

SURVEY, ACCOUNT NUMBER 72 045 00 TO THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS; 2134,
2138 AND 2148 PECAN STREET, THE SAME BEING N.

ADDITION, ACCOUNT NUMBER 35 180 OO.TO THE CITY

MONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1.
The City Council of Beaumont, Texas, hereby finds and
declares the'buildi ngs located at 1530 Evalon Street, the same
being Lot 12, Block 38, Jirou Addition, Account Number 38 191 00
to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; 2335 Lela
Street, the same being Plat B 3, Tract 10, J. W. Bullock Survey,
Account Number 72 045 00 to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas; 2134, 2138 and 2148 Pecan Street, the same being
N. 50'X100' of Lots 113 and 114, Block 11, Herring Addition,
Account Number 35 180 00, to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas; 747, 759 and 767 Sherman Street, the same being.
Lots 111, 112, Block 11, Herring Addition, Account Number
35 178 00, to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas;
953 and 965 Sherman Street, the same being Lot 136, Block 13,
Herring Addition, Account Number 35 206 00., to the City of Beau-

mont, Jefferson County:, Texas, each -to be a public nuisance in
that said buildings are for want of repairs, or by reason of
age or dilapidated condition, liable to cause or promote fires
that would endanger persons or property.'
Section 2.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the
Charter of the City of Beaumont, and Section 13-20 of the Code
of Ordinances- of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4 of the
Southern Standard Building Code, the same having been incorpor-
ated by reference into the ordinances of the City of Beaumont
by Section 8-1 of said ordinances, it -is hereby ordered that
the owner or owners of the buildings located upon the above-
described property in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, demolish and tear down within thirty (30) days of the
date of the passage of this ordinance, said structures so loca-
ted on the above-described property; and, if such action is not
taken, the owners of said buildings shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor and said buildings shall be demolished and removed
at the expense of the City of Beaumont on the account of the
owner thereof; and such expense shall be assessed as a special
tax against the property upon which said buildings are situated
and a lien shall exist for such special tax, which lien shall
be foreclosed and said expense be recovered by the City of Beau-
mont as in the case of any other debt and lien in favor of the
City of Beaumont.
