O R D I N A N C E

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 39 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
BY REPEALING SECTION 39-18 AND ENACTING A NEW
SECTION 39-18 IN LIEU THEREOF;. DETERMINING AND
FIXING THE MAXIMUM SCHEDULES OF RATES TO BE
CHARGED BY UNITED GAS,. INC., ITS SUCCESSORS
AND ASSIGNS, IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR
NATURAL GAS AND NATURAL GAS SERVICE FURNISHED
BY IT; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY_..
WHEREAS, on or about June 26, 1973, United Gas, Inc.
completed its presentation of its application for an increase
in rates to be charged for natural gas and natural gas service
in the City of Beaumont anda public hearing accorded to said
Company; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council., having heard and fully con-
sidered the evidence adduced at said hearing, recognized that
the rates now being charged by United.Gas, Inc. for natural
gas and natural gas service in the City of Beaumont should be
increased,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Chapter 39 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Beaumont is hereby amended by repealing the present Section
39-18 and enacting a new Section 39-18 in lieu thereof, which
said new Section 39-18 shall read as follows:
"Section 39-18. Schedule of Rates for Natural Gas,
Natural Gas Service."
"United Gas, Inc., its successors and assigns
(hereinafter sometimes referred to as the
'.'Company"), is hereby authorized to place

in effect the following schedules of
rates within the corporate limits of
the City of Beaumont for the supply
of natural gas and natural gas service
RESIDENTIAL RATES
MONTHLY RATE
$2.50 per month, which includes the us.e of 600 cubic.feet.
14.11¢ per 100 cubic feet for the next 2,400 cubic feet
11.110 per 100 cubic feet for.the next 3,000 cubic feet
10.110 per 100 cubic feet for the. next 10,000 cubic feet
7.11¢ per 100 cubic feet for all additional gas used.
Whenever the city gate xate paid by United Gas, Inc.
is revised above or below the rate in effect on January'2, 1973,
the above consumer rate shall be adjusted, either plus or minus,
to reflect the change in .cost. to .Unit ed Gas, Inc. If the com-
pany receives any refunds of any increased costs that have been
passed on under this provision, a refund shall be made to con-
sumers served by this rate schedule.
Minimum'Monthly Bill: $2.50
PAYMENT
Bills shall be rendered on a monthly basis -and -are due
and payable within ten (10) days from the date of bill.
COMMERCIAL RATES
MONTHLY RATE
$3.00 per month, which includes the use of 600 cubic feet
14.11 per 100 cubic feet for the next 9,400 cubic feet
11.11 per 100 cubic feet for the next 10=,000 cubic feet
10.11 per 100 cubic feet for the next 15,000 cubic feet
7.110 per 100 cubic feet for all additional gas used.
Whenever the City gate rate paid by United Gas, Inc.

The above schedules of residential rates and of

commercial rates, as adjusted in the manner hereinabove pro-
vided, are the highest rates that may be charged by United Gas,
Inc.., its successors and assigns, to residential consumers and
commercial consumers within the City of Beaumont. Other lower
residential rates and commercial rates may be fixed and deter-
mined from time to time by United Gas, Inc., its successors and
assigns,for gas and gas service furnished to residential con-
sumers and commercial consumers.
Section 2.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordiance, or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held
invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various pro-
visions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
