ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING POR-.
TIONS OF A 60 -FOOT EASEMENT OUT OF THE JAMES DRAKE
SURVEY, BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, CONVEYED
BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY ,OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BY
DEED DATED AUGUST 29, 1949 -AND RECORDED IN VOLUME
745, PAGE 463 OF THE DEED RECORDS OF JEFFERSON CUUNTY,
TEXAS, SAID PORTIONS BEING ABANDONED FULLY DESCRIBED
IN THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, by deed dated August 29, 1949 and recofded in
Volume 745, Page 463 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas,
the Housing Authority of The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, conveyed to The City of Beaumont easements including a 60 -
foot strip for the purpose of constructing and maintaining streets,
sewers and other general utilities, etc., with a specific clause in
said conveyance providing that whenever such property shall cease
to be used for street purposes then and thereupon the conveyance
will be null and void and the land and premises would revert to the
Housing Authority of The City of Beaumont, the grantor therein; and,
WHEREAS, portions of said 60 -foot strip are no longer needed
or used for street or utility purposes, and the City Council is of
the opinion that the portions herein described should be abandoned
and that the City quitclaim any interest it may have to same in
favor of the Housing Authority of The City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS:
That the following portions of that certain easement out of the
James Drake Survey, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, conveyed by
the Housing Authority of The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, to The City of Beaumont by deed dated August 29, 1949, re-
corded in Volume 745, Page 463 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas, described as follows:
Portion A-
Beginning at the intersection of the present East
line of Grand Avenue with the present North line of
Wiess.Avenue as both are now established;
Thence North 22 degrees 45 minutes zero seconds West
_along the said East line of Grand Avenue six hundred
eighty-six and nine hundredths (686.09) feet to'the
beginning corner of this description;
Thence continuing North 22 degrees 45 minutes zero
seconds West along the said East line of Grand Ave-
nue thirty and two hundredths (30.02) feet to corner;
Thdhde North 69 degrees 12 minutes zero seconds East
one hundred seventy-seven and fifty --three hundredths
(177.53) feet to corner in the present West line of
Texas Avenue;
Thence South 22 degrees 45 minutes zero seconds East
along the said present west line of Texas Avenue
thirty and two hundredths (30.02) feet to corner;
Thence South 69 degrees 12 minutes zero seconds West
one hundred seventy-seven and fifty. -three hundredths
(177.53) feet to the place of beginning;
The above described tract contains 0.12225 acre, more
or less;
Portion B:
Beginning at the intersection of the present East line
of Texas Avenue with the present North line'of Wiess
Avenue as both are now established;
Thence North 22 degrees 45 minutes zero seconds West
along the said present East line of Texas Avenue six
hundred seventy-eight and twenty --one hundredths (678.21)
feet to the beginning corner of this description;
Thence continuing North 22 degrees 45 minutes zero
seconds West along the said present East line of'Texas
Avenue thirty and one hundredth (30.01) feet to corner;
Thence North 68 degrees 50 minutes zero seconds East
four hundred eighteen and eighty-five hundredths
(418.85) feet to corner in the present West line of
Pine Street;
Thence South 06 degrees 21 minutes zero seconds West
along the said present West line of Pine Street
thirty-three and eighty-four hundredths (33.84) feet
to corner;
Thence South 68 degrees 50 minutes zero seconds West
four hundred two and thirty --nine hundredths (402.39)
feet to the place of beginning;
The above described tract contains 0.28283 acre, more
or less;
are hereby vacated and abandoned, and that title to such property
shall revert to and become the property of The Housing Authority of

The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and The City of
Beaumont hereby relinquishes any and all right, title and interest
it had or might have had in and to said easement, and quitclaims
any such interest it has to the said Housing Authority of The City
of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.
