HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 26 HHORDINANCE NO. -` ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34, SEC- TIONS 16 AND 175 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANC:ES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS3_AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES .AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY 'OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: 1. That Sections 34-16 and 34-17 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, be and the same are hereby amended to pro- vide as follows: "See. 34-16. Same - Installments - Due dates. "If any person shall pay, on or before December thirty-first of the year for which their assess- ment is made,.one--half (1/2) of the taxes levied upon his property for municipal purposes, then he shall have until and including the thirty-first day of -the succeeding May within which to pay the other one --half (1/2) of said taxes without penalty or interest thereon.tt "See. 34-17. .Same - Same - Failure to pay on time. ttlf a taxpayer, after paying one-half (1/2) of his taxes on or before December thirty-first as provided in'Section 34-16, shall fail or refuse to pay the other one-half (1/2) of said taxes on or before the May thirty-first next succeeding said December, the unpaid balance shall be considered delinquent as of the first day of February next succeeding said Decem- ber, and penalty and interest as provided by law will be charged from said first day of February.tt 2.
