ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE
CODE OF .ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, TO AUTHOR-
IZE THE HEAL'T'H DEPARTMENT'TO DEVISE A MEAT LEGEND
AS THE_ MARK OF IDENTIFICATION_ OF THE. HEA:IIH DEPART-
MENT OF THIS CITY TO BE USED UNDER THE REGULATIONS
AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE HEALTH COMMISSIONER;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT.ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Section 20.-1 of Chapter 20 of the Code of Ordinances
of Beaumont is hereby amended to provide as follows:
tt'Section 20--1-. State approved municipal meat in-
spection adopted.
The rules and regulations and standards for the
inspection of meat, meat products, and meat --food
products promulgated by the commissioner of health
of the State of'Texas under authority of Article
4418d, Vernonts.Texas Civil Statutes, as approved
by the state board of health of the State of Texas,
as authorized by Article 4476.-3, Vernons Texas .
Civil Statutes, together with all amendments there-
to, are hereby in all things adopted and made a part
of this chapter as if set forth in full herein, and
the provisions,definitions,standards, rules and
regulations contained therein are made mandatory
requirements for the inspection and labeling of
meat and meat -.food products produced, sold or offered
for sale within the limits of the city. Any estab-
lishment desiring to sell or offer for sale, meat,
meat products and meat -food products in the city con-
taining thereon the ttTexas State Approved Meat for
Human Food'? label on such meat, meat product, or meat --
food product shall be governed by,the specifications
and regulations promulgated by the commissioner of.
health, as approved by the state board of health,
adopted herein, and all requirements specified there-
in shall be complied with. The health department of
this city is authorized to devise its own legend
which shall be the mark of identification of the
health department of this city. Any establishment
desiring to sell or offer .for sale, meat, meat pro-
ducts or meat --food products in the city containing
thereon.the legend of the health department of this
city on such meat, meat product or meat -food product,
shall be governed by the.specifications and regula-
tions promulgated by the commissioner of health, as
approved by the -.state board of health, as adopted
herein, and all requirements specified therein shall
be complied with.tt

That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this.ordinance or the:appli"cation of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to
be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining
portions and provisions of this ordinance, and to such end various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be sever-
able.

That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
