HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 53 HHORDINANCE NO. u; r - ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12--20 OF THE CODE OF RODINANCES OF"BEAUMONT, TEXAS, BY DECREASING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN CERTAIN GRADES IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY AND BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN CERTAIN OTHER GRADES IN THE FIRE -DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That Section 12-20 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended so that said Section 12-20 shall read as follows: ItSec. 12.-20. Grades and classifications in fire department. ItAll positions in the fire department of the city are hereby classified into the following grades, each grade having duties of substantially similar authority, importance, and responsibi.lity:+ "(1) Grade I. There shall be eighty --seven (87) positions in Grade I, said positions to include pipemen and laddermen. The base pay of,all firemen in this grade shall be four hundred and fifty-five dollars.($455.00) per month. "(2) Grade"II. There shall be fifty --five (55) positions in Grade II, said positions to include drivers and assistant -to fire marshal. The base pay of all firemen in this grade shall be four hundred seventy-eight dollars ($478.00) per month. 't (3) " Grade "III . There shall be thirty --four ( 34 ) positions in Grade III, said positions to include captains, fir:e'marshal, dispatchers, and mechanics. The base pay of all"firemen in this grade ;shall be five hundred nine dollars"($509.00) per month. "(4) Grade IV There shall be seven (7) positions in Grade IV, said positions to include battalion chiefs, and chief fire alarm dispatcher. THe base pay of all firemen in this grade shall be five hundred forty. -eight dollars ($548.00) per month. 1r(5) Grade V. There shall be three (3) positions in Grade V, said positions to include district chiefs. The base pay of all firemen in this grade shall be five hundred ninety --eight dollars ($598.00) per month. 1T(6) Grade VI. There shall be one (1) position in Grade VI, said position, -:being drillmaster. The base pay of the fireman in this grade shall be seven hundred four dollars ($704.00) per month. "(%) Grade VII. .There shall be -one (1) position in Grade VII, said position being assistant chief. The base pay of the fireman in this grade shall be eight hundred two dollars ($802.00) per month. Section 2. x,11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby, -;-repealed to the extent of such conflict. .Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances shall, for any reason be found to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remai.n,i:ng portions of this ordinance, and to such end various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. -PASSED by the City Council this (, day of January, 1967. ,�- f Mayor
