ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDIM
NANCES. OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS., BY ADDING A SECTION. TO
BE NUMBERED SECTION 3320.1; PROHIBITING POSTERS,
PLACARDS., HANDBILLS AND SIGNS UPON PUBLIC STREETS
AND PROPERTY LOCATED IN PUBLIC STREETS; PROVIDING
A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That the Code.of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, is hereby
amended by adding a section, to be numbered Section 33-20.1, which
said section reads as follows: -
"Section 33-.20.1. Posters., placards handbills,
signs, prohibited; exceptions.
TtIt shall be unlawful for any person to place or
cause to be placed upon any public street or side-
walk or on or against any pole, post, tree, fire-
plug., trash.receptacle, or other property located
in a public street or sidewalk, any poster, placard,
handbill., or sign; provided, however, that this sec-
tion shall not apply to signs placed by officers or
employees of the city,'state or the United States,
in the performance of their official duties and
functions.1t
2.
That any person who violates any provision -;:of this ordi-
nance shall, upon conviction. be punished as provided in Section
1..8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same t -o a particu-
lar set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held
to be invalid, such'invalidity shall in nowise affect the remain-
ing portions of this ordinance, and to such end various portions
and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
