HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 65 I IORDINANCE NO.69- �L / ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PROPER OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT A QUITCLAIM DEED CONVEYING ALL OF THE CITY'S RIGHT, TITLE, AND INTEREST IN AND TO THE SOUTH ONE-HALF OF LOT NO. SEVEN (52-7) IN BLOCK NO. TWO (2) OF THE JERSEY FARM ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, TO.RALPH L. MYRES AND WIFE, EVALENA MYRES. WHEREAS, on the 25th day of May, 1961, The City of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against David B. Tidwell, et al and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the South one-half of Lot No. Seven (S2-7), in Block No. Two (2) of the Jersey Farm Addition to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the above described property was sold at public auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien and The City of Beaumont purchased said property at said auction and obtained a Sheriff's Deed, dated July 13, 1966, and recorded in Volume 1472, Page 606 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, The City of Beaumont issued public notice of sale on said property in August and September of 1967, and no offers or bids to purchase said property were received at such time; and, WHEREAS on August 27, 1968, an offer to purchase said property was received from Ralph L. Myres and wife, Evalena Myres in the amount of Fourteen Hundred and No/100 Dollars ($1,400.00), and while said sum offered is less than the total amount of taxes,.penalty, interest, and cost against said property due the respective taxing authorities, the Tax Assessor -Collector of the City of Beaumont has recommended the above offer be accepted since the said property has been on the delinquent tax rolls for some time, and the Tax Assessor -Collector has obtained consent from the Beaumont Independent School District and the County of Jefferson to sell the said property for the lesser amount offered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: That James D. McNicholas, Mayor, be and he is hereby, author- ized to execute and deliver for and on behalf of The City of Beaumont a Quitclaim Deed to Ralph L. Myres and wife, Evalena Myres, conveying to them all of the City's right, title and interest in and to the hereinafter described property: The South one-half of Lot No. Seven (Sk-7) in Block No. Two (2), of the Jersey Farm Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to attest to said instrument and to affix the seal of -The City of Beaumont thereto.
