ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PROPER
OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO EXECUTE
AND DELIVER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT A QUITCLAIM DEED CONVEYING ALL OF
THE CITY'S RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST IN AND
TO LOT 122, BLOCK 12, HERRING ADDITION TO THE
CITY.OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, TO
L. M. MOTON, CHAIRMAN, DEACON'S BOARD AND
W. A. MIDDLETON, CHAIRMAN, TRUSTEES OF THE
SAINT JOHN. BAPTIST CHURCH:
WHEREAS, on the 29th day of September, 1961, The City
of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against Pete M. Doornbos
and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon Lot 122, Block 12 of
the Herring Addition to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described property was sold at public
auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien and The
City of Beaumont purchased said property at said auction and
obtained a Sheriff's Deed, dated January 7, 1964, and recorded
in Volume 1371, Page 630 of the Deed Records of Jefferson
County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Beaumont issued public notice and
accepted bids on the above described property and the Tax
Assessor -Collector has recommended that the highest bid be
accepted, said bid being in a sufficient amount to cover all
delinquent taxes, penalties and interest -which are due against
the above described property; said bid being in the amount of
One Thousand One Hundred Forty and No/100 ($1,140.00) Dollars;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
TEXAS:
That James D. McNicholas, Mayor, be, and he is hereby, authorized
to execute and deliver for and on behalf of The City of Beaumont
a Quitclaim Deed to L. M. Moton, Chairman, Deacon's Board and
W. A. Middleton, Chairman, Trustees of the Saint John Baptist
Church, conveying to them all of the City's right, title, and
interest in and.to the -hereinafter described prop6rty:,
Lot 122, Block 12, Herring Addition to
The City of Beaumorft,- Jefferson County,
Texas,;
and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to attest to said
instrument and 'to.affix the seal of The City of Beaumont
thereto.
