ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PROPER
OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO EXECUTE
AND DELIVER FOR AND ON B:EHALP OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO BETHLEHEM
STEEL'CORPORATION, CONVEYING A 31'ACRE TRACT
OF LAND, MORE OR LESS, IN THE WILLIAM H. HODGES
SURVEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, on April 30, 1963; bids were received by The City of
Beaumont for the sale of the hereinafter described tract of land,
and Bethlehem Steel. Corporation submitted a bid in the sum of One
Hundred Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars for the purchase of
said property, which was the only bid received; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the. -opinion that it is to the
best interest of the City to convey said property for such price;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute and deliver
for and on behalf of The City of Beaumont a Special Warranty Deed
conveying to Bethlehem Steel Corporation, a Delaware corporation,
the following described tract of land, to wit:
BEING all that tract of land known as The City of Beaumont
old sanitary fill out of the William H. Hodges Survey,
Jefferson County, Texas;and being more fully described
as follows:
BEGINNING at the intersection of the south line of said
tract and the north line of property now.or formerly of the
Bethlehem Steel Company with the east bank of Brakes Bayou;
THENCE East along the south.line of said tract and the north
line of the property now or formerly of the Bethlehem Steel
Company to its intersection with the west bank of the Neches
River. Said north line of property now or formerly of the
Bethlehem Steel Company being described in deed, City of
Beaumont to Petroleum Iron Works Co., 10 ft. wide strip north
of and adjacent to the Kirby Canal, Jefferson County Deed
Records., Vol. 354, pg. 633. Said Kirby Canal being located
as shown on survey plat prepared by L. V. Norris, November
1951, plat titled "Survey of Various'Tracts for Bethlehem
Steel Co. in The City of Beaumont, County of Jefferson,Texa8�;
THENCE Northerly with the east line of said,tract and
the west bank of the Neches River to' its intersection,
with the south right of way line of Interstate Highway 10;
THENCE West along the north,line of said tract and -the
south right of way line of Interstat(e Highway 10 tb its
intersection with the east bank of.Brakes Bayou.. Said
south .line.of right of way described in deed, City of
Beaumont, to Texas -Highway Department, Jefferson County;
Deed Records; Vol. 728, pg. 297;
THENCE Southerly along the vest -line of said tract and
the east line of Brakes Bayou to the place of beginning,
said tract containing 31 -acres more or less.
and the -City Clerk is.hereby authorized to attest to said instrument
and to affix the Seal of The City of Beaumont -thereto.
