HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 54-LAN ORDINANCE APPORTIONING A TAX OF SEVENTY-FOUR .:AND ONEmRALF CENTS (0745) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CI`.CY OF BEAI7MONNT, TEXAS, ..AND A TAX OF TWENTY-SEVEN CENTS ($.27) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE OLD CITY LIMIITS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, AS SUCH LIMITS EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE ADOPTION O FTHE PRESENT CITY CHARTED AND THAT PORTION TAKEN IN IN 1923.FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES ONLY, LEVIED .AND ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BFAMIONT ON THE 20th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, A. D. 1938, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST AND CREATING A SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND ACCOUNTS THEREIN MENTIONED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. -BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1 That the tax of Seventy Four and One-half Cents 0.745) on each one hundred dollars valuation of all taxable property within the limits of the City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund accounts, other ;than school bond accounts, and ordered collected by an Ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City of Beaumont on the 20th day of September, 1938, be :and the -same is hereby apportioned :among the various interest and sinking funds as follows: To the interest sand sinking fund of Airport Bonds #1, dated July 1, 1929 Seven and Five -tenths Mills 0.0075). To the interest sand sinking fund of City Ball Bonds Q. dated December 1, 1902 - One and Five -tenths Mills (8-0015). To the interest and sinking fund of City Hall tic Auditorium Bonds #1, dated December 15 1926 - Three Cents (00300). To the interest and sinking fund of Fair Park Bonds #1, dated May 1, 1931 - Fight and Five -tenths -1 -Rills (.'x.00.85). To the interest and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds 1922, dated October 1,1922 - Six and Five -tenths Mills ($0065). To the interest .and sinking fund of Fire Department Bonds #2, dated December 1, 1926 - One Cent and Four Mills (1.0140). To the interest .and sinking fund of Wharf & Dock Refunding Bonds Series B, dated July 12 1935 - Nine and Five -tenths Mills ($9-10095). Section 2 That the tax of.Twenty-seven Cents ($.27) on each one hundred dollars valuation of :all taxable property within the old city limits of the City of Beaumont, as such limits existed at the time of the adoption of the present City Charter., and that portion taken in in 1923 for school purposes only., heretofore levied for interest -and sinking fund accounts collected by :an ordinance passed on the 20th day of September, A. D. 1938., be and the same is hereby apportioned among the various school bond interest and sinking funds as follows: To the interest ;and sinking fund of +School House Building Bonds #2, dated December 1., 1902 - Five Mills 0.0050). . To the interest and sinking fund of School douse Building Bonds #6, dated November 12 1916 - Two Cents and Six dills (#.0260):' To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds 1922, dated October 1, 1922 - Four Cents and Eight Mills (.$.0.80) . To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building & Repair Bonds #7, dated May 1, 192/x. - One Cent :and Five Mills 0.0150). . To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #g, .d-ated September 1, 192/, - Seven Mills ($.0070). To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds Series A, dated May 1, 1928 - Nine Cents and One Mill ($.0910). To the interest :and sinking fund of School 'Bonds Series B, dated May 1, 1928 - Six Cents Tand Three Mills ($.0630) . To the interest :and sinking fund of French School Bonds, dated April 10, 1912 - Two Mills (;x.0020). To the interest and sinking fund of School refunding Bonds - Series A, dated June 1, 1935 - One Cent and Three Mills M-0130). section 3 That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to pro -mate the said sums so assessed -according to the provisions of this Ordinance, -and to zo present his statement and report to the Director of Finance that said officer may be able to place 'all collections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund, -and that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose. Section A The fact that no °apportionment has been made of the assessments levied to provide for the interest :and sinking fund for the bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three -separate meetings before their passage, wherefore, said rule is suspended --and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
