HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 6-Mz - AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY LIMITS, AND GRANTING TO ALL THE INHABITANTS OF SAID PROPERTY ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS AND BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY ALL OF THE ACTS, ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS AND REGULA- TIONS OF SAID CITY. WHEREAS, a petition has been signed by a majority of property owners who are citizens of the State of Texas and inhabitants of the following described territory, to -wit: Beginning at a point on the Western boundary line of the Port Arthur Road, or Railroad Avenue, at a point where the Southern boundary line of the Texarkana & Fort Smith Railroad Company's track extended intersects the West line of said Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue), said point also being in the East boundary line of Lot Seven (7), Block One (1) of the Arlington Addition to the City of Beaumont, where the line bounding the city limits of the City of Beaumont on the West line of the Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue) intersects the line bounding the city limits of the City of Beaumont extended along the South side of the Texarkana & Fort Smith Railroad Company's right-of-way; Thence in a Southeasterly direction with the Western boundary line,of the Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue) to a point on the North boundary line of a 1.89 acre tract belonging at one time to Mrs. Dozina Segrast, said point being in the West boundary line of the Port Arthur Road and being the most Southeasterly point within the West Port Arthur Road where the city limits of the City of Beaumont turn westward; Thence East across the Port Arthur Road and in a straight line with the South line of the city limits at this point approximately seventy (70) feet to a point in the East boundary line of said Port Arthur Road; Thence in a Northwesterly direction following the East boundary line of the Port Arthur Road to a point where the East boundary line of the Port Arthur Road intersects the South boundary line of the city limits, said point being directly opposite Lot Seven (7), Block One (1) of the Arling- ton Addition to the City of Beaumont; Thence in a westerly direction following said South line of the city limits at said point to the place of beginning, it being the intent and purpose to take into the city limits the Port Arthur Road from the Eastern boundary line to the Western boundary line between the points mentioned above' 2 - adjoining the City of Beaumont, and presented to the City Commission desiring and requesting the annexation of said territory to said City; and, WHEREAS, said petition has attached to it the affidavit of three of said applicants to the effect that said petition is signed by a majority of the qualified voters within and owning such property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That the following described property, to -wit: Beginning at a point.on the Western boundary line of the Port Arthur Road, or Railroad Avenue, at a point where the Southern boundary line of the Texarkana & Fort Smith Railroad Companyts track extended intersects the West line of said Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue), said point also being in the East boundary line of Lot Seven (7) Block One (1) of the Arlington Addition to the City of Beaumont, where the line bounding the city limits of the City of Beaumont on the Vilest line of the Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue) intersects the line bounding the city limits of the City of Beaumont extended along the South side of the Texarkana & Fort Smith Railroad Company's right-of-way; Thence in a Southeasterly direction with the Western boundary line of the Port Arthur Road (Railroad Avenue) to a point on the North boundary line of a 1.89 acre tract belonging at one time to Mrs. Dozina Segrast, said point being in the Vilest boundary line of the Port Arthur Road and being the most Southeasterly point within the West Port Arthur Road where the city limits of the City of Beaumont turn westward; Thence East across the Port Arthur Road and in a straight line with the South line of the City limits at this point approximately seventy (70) feet to a point in the East boundary line of said Port Arthur Road; Thence in a Northwesterly direction following the East boundary line of the Port Arthur Road to a point where the East boundary line of the Port Arthur Road intersects the South boundary line of the city limits, said point being directly opposite Lot Seven (7), Block One (1) of the Arlington Addition to the City of Beaumont; Thence in a westerly direction following said South line of the city limits at said point to the place of beginning, it being the intent and purpose to take into the city limits the Port Arthur Road from the Eastern boundary line to the Western boundary line between the points mentioned above, be and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and that the boundary limits of the City of Beaumont be and the same are hereby extended to include the above described territory within the city limits of the City of Beaumont, and the same shall hereafter be included within / CJ .--r Ij-D P) the territorial -limits of said City, and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all rights and privileges of other citizens of the City of Beaumont and they shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said City.
