BE IT ORDi'INED BY THE CITY COYIMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1 That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected, for the year 1939 an ad valorem tax of Two and 55/100 Dollars ($2.55) on each one hundred dollars worth of property in the City of Beaumont located within the territory comprising the old city limits existing prior to the adoption of the present City Charter and comprising the Beaumont Independent School District in the City of Beaumont, made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, apportioned among the funds and departments of the City Government, of the City of Beaumont, and for the purposes as hereinafter set forth, as follows, to -wit; For the General Fund $ •95 For the City of Beaumont Public Free Schools .50 For the support and maintenance of Public Library .07 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for all purposes 1.01 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Library Site purchase Notes - Series "All .0035 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fungi: to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "B" .0020 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking funs to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "C" .0035 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of E_;treet Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "D" .0055 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Notes - Houston Construction Company .0035 For the purpose of providing a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, in- curred under contract with the Petroleum Iron Vuorks dated March 31, 1931 .0020 Section 2 That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected, for the year 1939, an ad valorem tax of One and 78/100 Dollars ($1.78) on each one hundred dollars worth of property located within and comprising that portion -of the City of Beaumont lying outside of the old city limits described in Section 1 hereof, in the City of Beaumont made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the Gity of Beaumont, apportioned among the funds and departments of the City Government of the City of Beaumont, and for the purposes hereinafter set forth, as follows, to -wit: For the General Fund •95 For the support and maintenance of Public Library .07 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for all purposes, except the school bonded indebtedness of the Beaumont City Schools .74 For the purpose of haying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtednesE when due, incurred in the issuance of Library Site purchase Notes - Series "All .0035 For the purpose of paying the accruin6 interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "B" .0020 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series "C" .0035 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Promissory Notes - Series I'D" .0055 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred in the issuance of Street Improvement Notes - Houston construction, Company .0035 For the purpose of providing a sinking fund to retire said indebtedness when due, incurred under contract with the Petroleum Iron Wtorks dated March 31, 1931 .0020 Section 3 That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be. assessed and collected, for the year -1939, a school maintenance tax of 50.¢ on each $100.00 worth of property in the territory taken into the City of Beaumont for school purposes only, by the City Commission of the City of'Beaumont, by ordinance passed on the 27th day of November, A. D. 1923, and there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected, for the year 1939, a tax of 27¢ on each $100.00 worth of said property to take care of the interest and sinking fund on the school bonded inddbtedness of the City of Beaumont. Said tax is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for sai� year on all property in the territory taken in by the City of Beaumont for school pur- poses only, by an ordinance passed by the City Gommission of said City, on the 27th day of November, A.D. 1923, said territory being known as a portion of what is commonly called the French School District. Section 4 That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa- tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or calling in the City'of Beaumont. Section 5 There being no Ordinance in effect levying the taxes for the year 1939, and the taxes for said year will soon bacome due and payable, an Lmnediate public emergency exists, necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on'. three separate days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be in full force and .effect from and after its passage and publication. To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #6, dated November 1, 1916 - Two Cents and Nine ;Mills ($.0290). To the interest and sinking fund of School Bonds 1922, dated October 1, 1922 - Five Cents and One Mill ($.0510). To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building & Repair Bonds #7, dated May 1, 1921 - One Cent and Seven Mills ($.0170). To the interest and sinking fund of School House Building Bonds #8, dated September 1, 192;4 - Four Uills ($.0040). The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assess- ments levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule recurring ordinances to be read on three separate meetinizs before their passage, wherefore, said rule is suspended and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
