MEMORANDUM OR AMENDMENTS TO ORDINANCE SUBMITTED
BY CITY COUNCIL.

track street railway onljr, except to the extant of the double tracka
which the said grantee now owns and operates, and excepto to the ex-
tant that the said grantee may be he= raaftcr authorized to change
the said road or portion thereof, to a double track road by the City
Council of the City of B,,, umont, under such regulations as the latter
may prescribe; provided, however, that the grantee be, and it is
hereby, authorized 'to construct, in lieu of the single tracks now
situated thereon, double tracks along the following streets, to -wit:

On Pearl Street from Bonham to Milaiu Streets;
on Milan
Str(-:et from Pearl Street to park gtreet; on Park. Street from Milwn
to Royal Streots; on College Street from Pearl Street to Park Street;
this9permit for double tracks being granted upon condition that the
same be constructed within twelve months after the acceptance of
tliiz ordinance, and that, as to character of construction, same shall
be governed by the general provisions of this ordinance.
Substitute for Section VIII the following:
SECTION VIII.
SPRIMING CARS.
That the grantee shall procure and keep in good condition
and repair a sufficient number of grater sprinkling cars with 1vhich
_it shall, .after the expiration of eighteen months after the accept -
ante of this ordinance, sprinkle not to exceed twice in one day
from curb to curb eight thousand lineal feet of such streets

III.
Substitute for the first paragraph in section 17 the
following:
That in caae any other person, firm or corporation shall
obtain a franchise from the City of 33eaumont for the construction
and operation of a street car line over the streets of the City of -
goauraont, the City reserves the right -to permit such person, firm ,/
or corporation to operate its cars over any track of the grantee for
a distance not to exceed eleven hundred feet at any one stretch,
when same is reasonably necessary in the public interest and for the
public convenience, in the opinion of the City Council."

In Section 24 i.nsart, after thc: 1Pods "persistent or
continued violation by i-" in the paragraph designated "Third" in A
said section, the words "amounting to wilfullness or negligence."

In Section 25 in6att, in lieu of the words "a sura not
less than twenty five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for
each offense" the words "a, slim not less than ten dollars nor more

In Section 26 substitute, for the words "a sura not less
than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for each
offense", the tiiords "a, sum not less than ten dollars nor more than
fifty dollars for each offense."
VIII.
Insert at the end of Section 30 the following proviso:
"Provided, that as regards the power of the Cit; Council
to require the illumination by the grantee of the streets over tivhich
its tracks run, the measure of the right of the City Council shall ---
be the measure stipulated- in Section 3,frof this ordinance."
Ix:
In Section 34 insert, after the words "after the accept-
ance of this franchise" in the fourth line from the end of the
section, the following laords; "(delays due to strikes, bad weather,
or other causes beyond the -control of the said grantee, exceptcd)"
