W H E R E A S the codified Ordinances of the City
of Beaumont contain an Ordinance granting unto the Beatunont
Ice, Light & Refrigerating Company the right, among other
things, to erect and operate electrical works for the purpose
of generating electricity for electric lights and motors and
other electrical machinery, as contained in Chapter XXXVII of
thg Charter & Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, publibhed
December 1899, and
W H E R E A S the original of said Ordinance has
been lost and cannot be found, and
W H E R E A S the validity of said Ordinance as
codified has been -questioned, therefore in order to - set at
rest the question as to the right of the Beaumont Ice, Light &
Refrigerating Company to exercise the ]powers and privileges con
tained in said Chapter XXXVII of the Ordinances of the City
of Beaivaont, be it
O R D A I N E D by the City Council of the City
of Beaumont:
SECTION I. That the Beaturior.t Ice, Light & Refrigerating Com-
pany, its successors and assigns are hereby granted the right
to erect electrical works., lay out, locate, construct, "flzrnish
maintain and enjoy a line or lines of wire with all poles,
bowers, lalnpz, apparatus and appliances necessary and needful
for the purpose of furnishing electric lights and power, ener-
gy and heat through and over any of the streets, alleys and
brdidges in the City of Beaumont , lrovided however, that said
lines Qf wire, and said poles and apparatus shall be so erecte
constructed and maintained as not to interfere frith or impede
travel, or dariage the property, or in any way interfere with
the rights of other people, or the public in general,within

the said City of Beaumont.
SECTION II. The said Beaumont Ice, Light & Refrigerating Com-
pany,,

pany, its successors and assigns are hereby given and granted
the privilege) franchise and right to erect and operate such
plant or plants
and
operate
and maintain
such electrical vrorks ,
including poles
and
lines. of
'vrire, as it
or they may deem nec-
essary for the purpose of.generating electricity for electric
lights and. for &upplying electric motors,4 and furnishing power
and heat for electrical machinery, contrivances and appliances
of every 'kind and character.
SECTION III. This Ordinance shall in no wise be donstrued as
limiting or restricting the powers and privileges heretofore
at any time granted or.conferred upon the said Beaumont Ice,
Light & Refrigerating Company, its successors and assigns, k3A
SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall be in full force and affect
from and after its passage.
