HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 18-289RESOLUTION NO. 18-289 WHEREAS, as a result of flooding caused by Hurricane/TS Harvey, many homes within the City of Beaumont 100 -year floodplain received flood damage; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (IDEM) has issued a call for applications to receive FEMA funds to cover 75% of the costs for a program for the buyout or elevation of homes located within the City of Beaumont 100 -year floodplain; and, - WHEREAS, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) has dedicated HUD funding to the City of Beaumont for buyouts that would cover the 25% local match for this program; WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Manager to apply to the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for the buyout or elevation of twenty-seven (27) properties flooded during Hurricane/TS Harvey; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby, in all things, approved and adopted; and, WHEREAS, that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to apply to the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for the buyout or elevation of twenty-seven (27) properties flooded during Hurricane/TS Harvey. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
