BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a joint Election
Services Agreement between Beaumont Independent School District and the City of
Beaumont for the City of Beaumont General Election being held jointly with the Port of
Beaumont and Beaumont Independent School District. The Agreement is substantially
in the form attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof for all purposes.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 14th day of

JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT
This agreement is entered into this day of 2017, by and
between the City of Beaumont, Texas (the "City"), and the Beaumont Independent
School District (the "District").
WHEREAS, under Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code the City and the
District have the authority to conduct joint elections; and
WHEREAS, the City and the District will conduct general elections on the May
uniform election date, May 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the parties to this agreement desire that the respective general
elections of the entities shall be held jointly ("Joint General Elections") for reasons of
cost efficiency and convenience for the voters of the entities.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED that a joint election will be held by the
City and the District under the following terms and conditions, and the parties hereto
agree with said conditions:
1. That the Joint General Elections conducted by the City and the District will utilize
the polling locations and ballots designated by the City and the District in their duly
adopted resolutions calling their respective General Elections.
2. That the City will be responsible for the recruiting, hiring, and training of all
Presiding and Alternate Judges, Election Clerks, Presiding Judge of the Early Voting
Ballot Board and Deputy Early Voting Clerks for both early voting by personal
appearance and election day for the Joint General Elections.
3. That the City and the District anticipate that they will each separately retain, and
be responsible for their portion of, the services of the Jefferson County Clerk pursuant to
agreements entered into by each entity under Texas Election Code Chapter 31 and under
which the Jefferson County Clerk shall conduct portions of the Joint General Elections.
4. That the City and the District may share election equipment, ballots, judges and
other facilities for the election secured by the City and the District.
5. That early voting both by mail and by personal appearance will be jointly
conducted with the City Clerk acting as the Joint Early Voting Clerk for both the District
and the City.
6. That the City and the District will each be responsible for the preparation,
publication, and Spanish translation of its own Notice of Election, Order of Election, and
acceptance of applications for a place on the ballot.

7. That the City will provide the District with an accounting of the costs and
expenses of conducting the Election for the District. The City and the District will each
be responsible for one-half (1/2) of the total cost and expenses of the election process.
8. That the financial obligations of the parties hereto are payable from current
revenues of the respective parties that have been budgeted and appropriated for the
purposes set forth herein.
9. That this agreement was adopted by official action of the governing bodies of
both the City and the District. That the undersigned are the duly authorized
representatives of the parties' governing bodies, and the signatures represent adoption and
acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement.
