It should be checked before starting the engine or at least 15 minutes after running the engine. Checking Automatic Transmission Fluid Fluid levels for all equipment with automatic transmissions will be checked each Friday. For fire apparatus, the automatic transmission fluid will be checked after the pumps have been flushed and the apparatus is returned to its station. The apparatus will be at operating temperature and checked according to the instructions on the automatic transmission dip stick. Vehicle Clean Up We all take pride in the appearance of our fire apparatus. If equipment can not be adequately cleaned with a shop cloth, use soapy water, a brush, and a water hose to rinse the equipment down. Repairs Personnel will not purchase or order repairs, or make repairs to any Department vehicle, equipment or structure unless authorized by the Chief of the Department or his/her designee.
