This collection contains event programs, autographed photos
and letters collected by Kathryn Burnett. Kathryn Burnett was born
April 19, 1916, in Bryan, Texas. She was the only child of Edwin
and Mary Burnett. Kathryn had a great interest in music and the
theatre. She held season tickets to the Beaumont City Auditorium
and attended every performance. Kathryn Burnett never married and
she attended all performances alone. It is evident from articles
in the collection that after attending a performance she would send
off letters to the actors, actresses or musicians involved and ask
for autographs and pictures. Many autographed pictures, notes and
letters were sent to Kathryn Burnett and she kept them all in
several scrapbooks. She also preserved the event programs in her
scrapbooks near the signatures of the players involved.
This collection was purchased by the donor from an antique
dealer. Several items in the collection were deemed not to belong
to Kathryn Burnett, these items have been stored together in the
third box of this collection.
