HomeMy WebLinkAboutAC040_BEAUMONT_LITTLE_THEATRE_COLLECTIONTHE TYRRELL HISTORICAL LIBRARY AC -040 Beaumont Little Theatre Collection, 1933-1935 DESCRIPTION On June 4, 1925, Mrs. Irvin Bettis and a group of about ten other women gathered at the Hotel Beaumont and organized the Little Theatre Club. This club was the beginning of the Beaumont Little Theatre. The first location of their stage was in Mrs. I. Frank Keith's mansion where the Beaumont Little Theatre played until their second season in 1926. Gilbert Dunbar Williams was the Beaumont Little Theatres director from 1933-1935. The Beaumont Little Theatre was the predecessor to the Beaumont Community Players. This small collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, and scrapbook pages from the Beaumont Little Theatre, as well as correspondence to and from Gilbert Dunbar Williams during 1933-1935. Also included are some programs from productions at the University of Wisconsin in which Gilbert Williams took part.
