Brauning. Known as the "Lion's Ladies," the group provided fellowship for wives of Lions members and assisted Lions at their request. Although not affiliated with the International Lions Club, the group considers itself the first of its kind in the world. Each year the Lioness Club makes a contribution to the Lions' disabled children's camp and organizes decorations for Lions Club activities. Most members are housewives and a large portion are college graduates. This collection contains 12 scrapbooks and two photo albums. The scrapbooks show how the club was essentially a social organization, providing fellowship for its members. Newspaper clippings announce Lioness Club meetings, parties, picnics, yet the material provides little information beyond names and dates. Articles in the "Roar", the Lions Club newsletter, offer some insight into the Lioness Club's organizations and goals. The collection's photographs, particularly in the later years, vividly portray club activities. No restrictions apply.
