ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
BOUNDARIES OF THE WARDS OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT FOR ELECTION PURPOSES ONLY;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING
FOR REPEAL.
WHEREAS,by Ordinance 83-65,the City Council established four(4) single member
districts for the purposes of electing ward councilmembers; and,
WHEREAS, population changes since 1983 as shown by the 1990 census and the fact
that a ward election is scheduled in May of 1995 bring about a necessity for the City Council
to amend the ward boundaries to establish wards which contain, as nearly as possible, the
same number of persons;
NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
THAT the City of Beaumont shall be divided into four (4)wards for voting purposes,
the same being Ward I, Ward II, Ward III and Ward IV, as described in Exhibits "X, 'B",
"C", and 'D" respectively, attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes. The
wards above-described are shown on the map attached hereto as "Attachment One."
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.

Section 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the
extent of the conflict only.

WARD I
Ward I shall consist of:
That portion of Jefferson County voting precinct 72 as of December 20, 1994
described as follows:
NORTH HALF OF PRECINCT 72
BEGINNING at a point which is the intersection of the centerline of State Highway 105 with
the West City Limits line of Beaumont;
THENCE East along the centerline of State Highway 105 to its intersection with the
centerline of the L.N.V.A. Canal;
THENCE along the centerline of said L.N.V.A. Canal in a northeasterly direction to its
intersection with the centerline of the Eastex Freeway;
THENCE along the centerline of the Eastex Freeway in a Southeasterly direction to its
intersection with State Highway 105;
THENCE West along the centerline of said State Highway 105 to its intersection with the
centerline of Old Dowlen Road;
THENCE South along Old Dowlen Road to its intersection with the centerline of Dowlen
Road and Folsom Road;
THENCE West along the extended centerline of Folsom Road to its intersection with the
centerline of Major Drive (Farm to Market Road No. 364), said point also being the
Northeast corner of the A.Houston League, the Northwest corner of the Hezekiah Williams
League, the Southeast corner of the Daniel Easley League, and the Southwest corner of the
W. B. Dyches League;
THENCE continuing West along the dividing line between the A. Houston League and the
Daniel Easley League to the Southwest corner of the Daniel Easley League;
THENCE North along the West line of the Daniel Easley League to the PLACE OF
BEGINNING.

described as follows:
NORTH HALF OF PRECINCT 65
BEGINNING at the centerline intersections of Old Dowlen Road, Dowlen Road and
Folsom Road;
THENCE East along the centerline of Folsom Road to its intersection with the centerline
of Crow Road;
THENCE South along the centerline of Crow Road to the South line of Calder Highlands
Extension Addition;
THENCE East along the South line of Calder Highlands Extension Addition to its
intersection with the West line of the Calder Highland Addition;
THENCE South along the West line of the Calder Highlands Addition to its intersection
with the North line of the Thomas Road Addition;
THENCE West along the North line of the Thomas Road Addition to the Northwest corner
