W11FREAS, an election was helcr in the City of Beaumont on May
14, 1971, at which time a majority oC vote.: cast were cast Vn favor of
the adoption of Article S154c-1 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the
State of Texas (the Fire and Police Employee Relations Act) ; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council de.ires, in, accordance with the pro-
visions of said Act to place this Act into effect in the City of Beaumont.
BE TT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
1.
The provisions of Article 5154c-1 of the Revised Civil Statutes
of the State of Texas, the same being the Fire and Police Employee Rcla-
tions Act, are now adopted by the City of Beaumont and placed into effect
in accordance with the requirements of said Act.
2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of
this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons
or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such inva-
lidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and to such end the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
3.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PLACING INTO EFFECT THE PRO-
VISIONS OF ARTICLE 5154c-1 OF THE REVISED CIVIL
STATUTES OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
WHEREAS, an election was held in the City of Beaumont on May
14, 1974, at which time a majority of votes cast were cast in favor of
the adoption of Article 5154c-1 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the
State of Texas (the Fire and Police Employee Relations Act); and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires, in accordance with the pro-
visions of said Act to place this Act into effect in the'City of Beaumont.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
