WHEREAS, the Southeast Texas Region was adversely affected by the landfall of
Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont is located in the Southeast Texas Region; and
WHEREAS, there are urgent conditions related to Hurricane Ike damage within the
City of Beaumont; and
WHEREAS, the urgent conditions in the City of Beaumont pose a serious and
immediate threat to the health and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the need is of recent origin or recently became urgent; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont is unable to finance activities on its own; and
WHEREAS, no other sources of funding are available to carry out activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City of Beaumont certifies an urgent need exists that is a threat to the health and
welfare of the community.

March, 2010.
