WHEREAS, City Council approved Resolution No. 06-219 on August 1, 2006,
authorizing the City Manager to apply for and receive funding in the amount of$1,135,050
through the Department of Homeland Security Port Security Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, a portion of the grant funding was designated for the enhancement of
Police Department facility security for response personnel, vehicles and equipment; and,
WHEREAS, City Council is hereby requested to consider the purchase and
installation of security surveillance systems from SecureNet, Inc., of Houston, Texas, for
the Police Department in the amount of $65,851.51, said purchase to be funded by the
Department of Homeland Security 2006 Port Security Grant in the amount of$49,388.63
and a 25% match of$16,462.88 from the Capital Reserve Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds it is in the best interest of the citizens of Beaumont
to approve the purchase and installation of this system for the Police Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the purchase and installation of security surveillance systems for the Police
Department from SecureNet, Inc., of Houston, Texas, in the amount of $65,851.51 is
hereby approved.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 13th day of
January, 2009.
