HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 00-64 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 26, SECTION 26-24 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BY MODIFYING AN EXISTING SCHOOL ZONE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Chapter 26, Section 26-24 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby amended by adding the following zone to Schedule A: DIRECTION OF STREET TRAVEL DESCRIPTION West Virginia E & W From a point 180 feet west of the centerline of Goliad to a point 350 feet east of the centerline of St. Louis. ;and, by revising the language of Schedule A as follows: SCHEDULE A In accordance with this section and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, the prima facie speed limit will be twenty (20) miles per hour in the following zones between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday thru Friday on school days. That Chapter 26, Section 26-24 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby amended by deleting the following zone from Schedule D: DIRECTION OF STREET TRAVEL DESCRIPTION West Virginia E & W From a point 180 feet west of the centerline of Goliad to a point 350 feet east of the centerline of St. Louis. ;and, by revising the language of Schedule D as follows: SCHEDULE D In accordance with this section and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, the prima facie speed limit will be twenty (20) miles per hour in the following zones between the hours of 7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday on school days. Section 3. That if any section, subsection, sentence clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should, for any reason, be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and, to such end, the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. GAMORDINMCWHOOIZON Section 5. That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished, as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
