BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, Unit 5110, a 1992 Caterpillar Model 826C landfill compactor, sustained
catastrophic engine failure on December 8, 2005; and,
WHEREAS, this procurement is exempt from competitive bidding due to the unforseen
nature of the damage; and,
WHEREAS, Mustang Tractor and Equipment of Beaumont is the local authorized
Caterpillar service center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT City Council authorizes Mustang Tractor and Equipment of Beaumont to repair Unit
5110, a 1992 Caterpillar Model 826C landfill compactor in the estimated amount of
$52,657. A final cost cannot be determined until the engine is completely disassembled.
Should actual repairs exceed the estimate, the City will be billed at$68 per hour for labor
in addition to the cost of parts.
