WHEREAS, on October 28, 2003, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
passed Resolution No.04-272 awarding a contract in the amount of $4,224,066.30 to
Brystar Contracting, Inc., for the Delaware Street Extension Project; and,
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1 in the amount of$8,490 was required to install a
junction box on the existing 24-inch water pipe to eliminate lowering the existing water line
and to eliminate any disturbance in the water distribution system thereby increasing the
contract amount to $4,232,556.30; and,
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $42,406 was required for the
extra cost of sand bedding material needed to install a 36" transmission line thereby
increasing the contract amount to $4,274,962.30; and,
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $294,990 was required for
installation of an additional 344 linear feet of 30-inch and 264 linear feet of 20-inch water
transmission lines and appurtenances increasing the contract amount to $4,569,952.30;
and,
WHEREAS,Change Order No.4 in the amount of$74,622 is required to furnish and
install 20 linear feet of 30-inch water line, 20 linear feet of 20 inch water line, 54 linear feet
of 42 inch steel casing, 54 linear feet of 36 inch steel casing, bore and jack 54 linear feet
of 30 inch water line, bore and jack 54 linear feet of 20 inch water line, including all
necessary appurtenances such as bends, boring and jacking, steel casing, valves,
disinfecting, and testing. The extra work will bore under the phone cables that were
discovered during construction at Major Drive and were not identified by Southwestern Bell
when locates were performed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute Change Order No. 4
in the amount of $74,622 increasing the contract amount to $4,699,574.30.
