Gordy Nesom, KPAC Radio. The Pledge of Allegiance was led, by Councilwoman McGinnis. -000- Mayor Meyers issued the following proclamations : "Heart Week" February 19-25 with "heart Sunday"' February 25, 1979; "Engineer ' s ?Peek in Beaumont" February 13-24, 1979; and "Pi Kappa Alpha Week in Beaumont" - February 20-25, 1979. -000- The Minutes of the regular City Council session held February 13 , 1979, were approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Coun- cilwoman 'McGinnis. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None --000- Ordinance No, 79-15 correcting the dimensions for a 0. 66 acre-tract located approximately 700 feet east of the Dowlen :load/Phelan Boulevard intersec- tion was considered : ORDINANCE NO. 79-15 ENTITLED All ORDINANCE AIMENDING ORDINANCE 75-43 BY CORRECTING THE DISTANCE OF THE NORTHERN HOST BOUNDARY LINE OF A CERTAIN ZONING DISTRICT DENOMINATED LR.-1 AS INDI- CATED UPON THE "CALDER-WEST END REZONING STUDY i;1AP" DATED OCTOBER, 7, 1974 AND INCORPORATED IN SAID ORDI- NANCE BY REFERENCE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING A PENALTY. The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and se- conded by Councilman Combs. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None -000-- Resolution 79--65 authorizing purchase of nine (9) parcels of land (CDBG - Parcel #3 (Stewart Street - $8 , 000) , Parcel #10 (Lamar Street - :$450. 00) Parcel #14 (Lamar Street - $1 , 665. 00) , Schwarner Street (Parcel 41 - $152, Parcel #42 - $435. 00, Parcel 43 - $415. 00, Parcel #68 - $1 , 152. 00 and Parcel #69 - $1 , 168. 00) and Pearl Street Parking Project - Parcel #1 at $41 , 000) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Councilman Evans. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None -28- February 20, 1979 Resolution 79-66 accepting the bid of E. R. Dupuis Concrete Company for construction of the :Jest Virginia Street Project , x`720-77-041 , at a cost of $142 , 605. 50 was approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and se- conded by Councilwoman 14cGinnis. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None 000- Resolution 79-67 accepting the bid of Baldwin Construction Company on con- struction of the Carroll Street Park Activities Building at a cost of $51 , 825. 00 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman T'Tilliams. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None -000- Resolution 79-68 accepting the bids of IBM ( 13 typewriters at a cost of $9, 342 . 00) and Better Business Machines (15 at a cost of $12 , 150. 00) for furnishing electric typewriters for various City offices was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs . Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None .-o0or Resolution 79-69 accenting bids of Jones Chemical (liquid chlorine -- $169.40 per ton) and Allied Chemical Corporation (aluminum sulfate at $151 . 65 per ton) for chemicals used in water treatment by the ;'later Utilities Depart- ment , contracts from February 1 , 1979 through January 31 , 1980, was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman "lilliams. Question : Ayes : All Nayes : hone _000 Resolution 79-70 accepting the bid of Landscape Design and Construction Com- pany on landscaping for the Civic Center, City Hall and adjacent narking lots at a cost of $134 ,402 . 00 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Combs . Question : Ayes : All Nayes : None _000 Mrs . Delia Harrington , 815 ?'Dillow Street , addressed Council to complain about no garbage pickup for 795 & 875 Willow, a dead tree in the 700 Block of Grand, and the poor condition of the 2800-3000 Block of Grand Avenue. Mr. Leroy Jones , 1170 Condon , presented a petition containing approximately 157 signatures asking for restoration of Condon, Skipwith, South 9th, Ranier, Columbia, Clearview and South 8th Streets in the Eleventh (11th) Street Ad- dition . Mr . B. R. East , American Ambulance Service of Houston , Texas , addressed Council to request a reciprocal agreement for his ambulance service so that his ambulances inspected by the City of Houston can operate within the city limits of Beaumont . Mrs . B. B. Young, Jr . , 10925 Fairfield, addressed Council to again request that the Streets in Pine Island Bayou Estates be paved. Mrs. R. Beaumont , Jr. , 11125 Pine Cove , addressed Council in support of remarks made by Mrs .
