CITY COUNCIL - CITY OF BEAUMONT
HELD NOVEMBER 28 , 1978
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont , Texas , met
in regular session this the 28th day of November , 1978 , with the following
present :
HONORABLE : Maurice Meyers Mayor
Tom Combs , Jr. Councilman , Ward I
Vi McGinnis Councilwoman , Ward II
Leroy Evans Councilman, Ward IV
Absent : Calvin Williams Councilman , Ward III
Ray Riley City Manager
Lane Nichols Asst . City Attorney
Myrtle Corgey City Clerk

The Invocation was given by Mr . R. E. Platt , Asst . City Manager .
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Combs .

Mayor Meyers issued the following proclamations : "Civil Air Patrol Anni-
versary Week in Beaumont" - November 27 through December 4 , 1978 and
"Industry Appreciation Day in Beaumont"' - November 30, 1978 .

The Minutes of the regular City Council session held November 14 , 1978 ,
were approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Coun-
cilwoman McGinnis .

Ordinance No . 78-110 amending Chapter 16 of the Code of Ordinances to
correct the designation of the Beaumont Library System was considered :
ORDINANCE NO. 78-110
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER
16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT BY CHANGING THE NAME
"TYRRELL PUBLIC LIBRARY" TO "BEAUMONT
PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM" ; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and secon-
ded by Councilman Combs .

Resolution 78-371 accepting the water, sewer and street improvements com-
pleted in Caroline Place Subdivision, Lots 1-12 , Block I - Allison Way
from F. M. 364 (Major Drive) west to its dead end - was approved on a mo-
tion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans .

Resolution 78-372 authorizing the purchase of repair clamps , service sad-
dles and bolted couplings for the Water Utilities Department from Utility
Supply Company (annual contract purchased from supply list) was approved
on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Councilwoman McGinnis .

Resolution 78-373 authorizing a maintenance contract in the amount of
$2, 766 . 00 with Addressograph-Multigraph for the City 's 4250 Addressograph-
Multigraph total copier for the period November 1 , 1978 through October 31 ,
1979 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded
by Councilman Combs.

There being no further business , the session was closed before continuing
with the City Council Workshop Session.
