Question: Ayes : All Nayes: None -000- A resolution authorizing the award of bid for furnishing one carry-all van for the Fire Department to GMC-Dixie Trucks, Inc. , as the best bid received was approved on a motion made by Councilman Dishman and seconded by Council- man Evans. Question: Ayes : All Nayes : None -3- A resolution authorizing the award of bid for furnishing a van for the Police Department to Tri-City Dodge in the amount of $4, 473 . 55 as the best bid re- ceived (to be used in the Crime Prevention Unit) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Dishman and seconded by Councilman Evans. Question: Ayes: All Nayes: None -000- A resolution authorizing the award of bid for furnishing 2-1/2" fire hose to Arthur Dooley & Son and for furnishing 1-1/2" fire hose to Claud Wright & Associates, as the lowest and best bidders was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Cash. Question: Ayes : All Nayes: None -000- _ resolution to reject the award of bid for furnishing a records storage & retrieval system for the City Clerk' s office and for furnishing an electro- mechanical filing system for the Public Utilities Department, Customer Ser- vice Division was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Williams. Question: Ayes: All Nayes : None -000- - resolution authorizing purchase of HTH Granual and 4-13 Bromine from Van- Water & Rogers for the Parks and Recreation Department as the lowest and best bidder, in the amount of $1, 900. 45, informal bids having been received was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Cash. Question: Ayes: All Nayes : None -000- - resolution authorizing the award of bid for the construction of Phase 2 of Phelan Boulevard, Revenue Sharing Project RS-T-11, to J. C. N. Pavers, Inc. as the lowest and best bidder in the amount of $1,352,869, was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Dishman. Question: Ayes: All Nayes : None -000- An ordinance authorizing transfer of unencumbered funds to the City Transit System to offset an operating deficit of $60, 000 was introduced and read: ORDINANCE NO. 74-19 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING BUDGET OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 18, 1973 , FOR THE FISCAL PERIOD BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1973 , AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1974 , BY APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $60, 000 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED RESERVES TO ACCOUNT 79-419 TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO OFFSET THE OPERATING DEFICIT OF THE TRANSIT SYSTEM AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, 1973; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Dishman. Question: Ayes: Mayor Ritter Nayes : Councilman Cash Councilman Dishman Councilman Williams Councilman Evans -000- Mr. McDaniel gave a report on intersections at Washington Boulevard at Houston and College Street at 11th Street which reflected fewer accidents and injuries at these locations after improvements. -000- Councilman Williams asked the City Attorney for a complete review of all ordi- nances covering Railroad Crossings, the switching, stopping, whistle blowing, etc. , to be discussed at a future work session. -000- -6- Mr. Walter Kaczmarz, 8755 Homer Drive, addressed the Council to ask whether or not the three Departments requesting purchase of storage and retrieval systems had studied the possibility of using existing Data Processing equip- ment. The Mayor recognized Mr. Manual DeCeia, Eastman Kodak Company, and living at 2865 Louisiana Street, responded to Mr. Kaczmarz ' question by saying that the computer system he was referring to could not be used for retrieval or making certified copies needed by these Departments. -000- There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. -000- 2, Myrtle Corgey, City Clerk of the City of Beaumont, Texas, certify that the above is a true copy of the Minutes of the regular session of the City Coun- cil held February 19, 1974.
