BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met in emergency session this the 30th day of November, 1988, with the following present: HONORABLE: Audwin Samuel Mayor Pro-Tem Councilman, Ward III Bob Lee, Jr. Councilman-At-Large Andrew P. Cokinos Councilman-At-Large David W. Moore Councilman, Ward IV Absent: Maurice Meyers Mayor Lulu L. Smith Councilman, Ward I Mike Brumley Councilman, Ward II Albert E. Haines City Manager Lane Nichols City Attorney Rosemarie Chiappetta City Clerk -000- The Invocation was given by Councilman Moore. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro-Tem Samuel. -000- Mayor Pro-Tem Samuel stated this emergency meeting is called because of potential hardship that could be incurred with no planned Council meetings until December 13th and in support of the "Citizen Friendly" policy that has been implemented for the City of Beaumont. Councilman Lee, Councilman Cokinos and Councilman Moore concurred with the need for an emergency meeting. -000- Ordinance No. 88-98 abandoning portions of two utility easements in Calder Highlands Extension to remove the encroachment at 4530 Reagan Street on the north side of the street where the residence extends 3 .7 feet onto a 20- foot-wide easement straddling the lot line between Lots 20 and 21 of Block 49 and 4535 Reagan Street where the residence extends 5.1 feet onto a similar 20-foot wide easement straddling the line between Lots 43 and 44 of Block 48 (requested by W. B. Martin, owner of Martin Construction Co. ) was considered: -306- November 30, 1988 ORDINANCE NO. 88-98 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING PORTIONS OF TWO ( 2) GENERAL UTILITY EASEMENTS ACROSS LOT 43 , BLOCK 48, AND LOT 20, BLOCK 49 OF THE CALDER HIGHLAND EXTENSION ADDITION. Ordinance No. 88-98 was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cokinos and seconded by Councilman Moore. Question: Ayes: All Nayes: None -000- Mr. W. B. Martin, 1 Cheska, addressed Council to express thanks and appreciation to Mr. Kirt Anderson, Planning Director, City Manager Albert E. Haines, and Council for assistance, action taken on Ordinance No. 88- 98 and for calling the emergency meeting. Mrs. W. B. Martin, 1 Cheska, addressed Council stating they could not believe the City was willing to back them above and beyond the usual limits and added her gratitude. -000- There being no further business, the Emergency City Council meeting was adjourned. -000- I, Rosemarie Chiappetta, City Clerk of the City of Beaumont, Texas, certify that the above is a true copy of the Minutes of the Emergency City Council session held November 30, 1988.
