Riley,City Manager Patrice Fogarty,City Clerk The City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met in a regular session on November 12, 1996, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 801 Main Street, Beaumont, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. to consider the following: OPENING *Invocation Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call *Presentations and Recognition *Public Comments: Persons may speak on scheduled agenda items *Consent Agenda Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend Bruce E. A. Booher, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, gave the invocation. Lamar University Student Aleesha Tristan, niece of Barbara Otto, (Mayor Moore's secretary, led in the pledge of allegiance. Present at the meeting were: Mayor Moore, Mayor Pro Tem Cokinos, Councilmen Ames, Davis and Patterson. Councilmen Smith and Goodson were absent (attending the funeral services for Mrs. Jeanne McNicholas, wife of Municipal Court Judge James McNicholas). Also, present were Beverly Hodges, acting as City Manager, Lane Nichols, City Attorney, Patrice Fogarty, City Clerk, and Barbara Liming, Deputy City Clerk. Ray A. Riley, City Manager, arrived during consideration of main agenda item 1. The Reverend Dwight Benoit announced that his church, Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church, 2830 Pine Street, will begin a new program to feed the homeless on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. starting November 17. The Reverend Benoit introduced Ms. Dorothy Snell and Ms. Liz Eaglin who will work in this program. He said that no other provider in the community offers meals for the homeless on Sunday and solicited Council assistance in advertising this program. Mayor Moore expressed appreciation to the Reverend Benoit and his congregation for significantly serving the community in this capacity. Mr. Greg Shepherd introduce Mr. William Lee, recently appointed as the Customer Service Manager for Entergy Corporation. Mr. Lee offered his assistance to the community and said he can be reached at 654-3882. Citizens were invited to comment on the Consent and Main Agendas . No one wished to address these subjects.
