WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont receives checks that, when processed, are
returned for insufficient funds or other banking related reasons;
WHEREAS, the makers of returned checks, after notification, fail to honor their
responsibility regarding such checks;
WHEREAS, the Council desires to authorize collection efforts of returned checks;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, authorized after consultation with the City
Manager to take all appropriate action to collect such sums due and owing on account of
returned checks including, if necessary, litigation.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 25th day of May,
2004.
