WHEREAS, the legendary country and western singer George Jones is a native of
this area; and,
Irk WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this area honor George Jones by the renaming of

' a street; and,
I WHEREAS, it has been proposed that a poffioWief Fannin'-Street between .Orleans
and Pearl be renamed "George Jones Place";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City of Beaumont hereby requests and approves the renaming of a portion of
Fannin Street between Orleans and Pearl to "George Jones Place" in honor of George
Jones.
