BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council hereby approves the 1995 Annual Update for a Plan Implementing
the Complementary Paratransit Requirements of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The update is substantially in the form attached hereto.

Management, Inc. of Jacksonville, Florida. This annual update is being

Public Participation

Public Participation Process
The public participation process involved conducting a public
hearing on the contents of the 1995 Paratransit Plan Update
during the regular session of the Beaumont City Council on
February 28, 1995, and soliciting comments -and
recommendations from not only the public, but the Transit
Advisory Committee (TAC), and the Mayor's Committee on
Employment of the Disabled. A public hearing notice, as well
as a notice announcing availability of the plan and request for
comments and recommendations was published in the local
newspaper, the Beaumont Enterprise, on February 15, 1995.
Comments and recommendations were accepted during the
comment period of February 15 through February 28, 1995.
Plans were made available in accessible formats upon request.
Rides to and from the public hearing were made available on the
paratransit service to ADA certified passengers. Copies of the
plan were mailed to all members of the TAC, a seven member
citizen group appointed by the City Council and Mayor, in order
for them to review, make any comments or recommendations,
and approve the plan for City Council to adopt. In addition,
copies of the plan were mailed to the Mayor's Committee on the
Employment of the Disabled, in order to give, any of its
members the opportunity to comment. News releases were sent
to local television and radio stations to be aired as public service
announcements. . All comments and recommendations received
prior to the public hearing, as well as those made at the public
hearing, were considered by City Council prior to adoption of
the plan.
A copy of the public notice published in the newspaper, as well
as a copy of the news release sent to local television and radio
stations, are attached.
A copy of any written comments or recommendations received
prior to the public hearing, as well as a transcript of the public
hearing and resolution authorizing adoption and submission of
the plan, will be submitted.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON BEAUMONT
MUNICIPAL TRANSIT SYSTEM'S 1995 ADA PARATRANSIT PLAN UPDATE
The annual update to the Beaumont Municipal Transit (BMT) System's
Special Transit Services (STS) Program is due to be submitted to
the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) . A public hearing will be
held on Tuesday, February 28, 1995, at 1:30 PM in the City Council
Chambers of City Hall, 801 Main Street, in downtown Beaumont. The
public hearing will afford the opportunity for the public, disabled
individuals, social service agencies who serve the disabled, and
other disabled transportation providers, to make comments and
recommendations to the plan. Copies of the plan are available to
the public at the BMT Office, 550 Milam, Beaumont, Texas, 77701,
weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Copies of the
plan, as well as accessible formats, will be provided and/or mailed
out to individuals as requested. Call the BMT Office at 835-7895,
or on the TDD line for the hearing impaired at 832-7656. ADA
certified passengers for the STS Program may call the day prior to
the public hearing to schedule rides if they wish to attend. Anyone
unable to attend the public hearing may submit written comments and
recommendations by dropping them off or mailing to:

The Beaumont Municipal Transit (BMT) System has prepared their
annual Paratransit Plan Update for submission to the Federal

Written comments and/or recommendations will be accepted from
February 15 through February 28, 1995. They may be dropped off or
mailed to the BMT Office at the address listed above. A public
hearing will be held on the plan on February 28, 1995, at 1:30 PM,
