WHEREAS, on March 29, 1994, City Council awarded a contract to Bo-Mac
Contractors, Inc. for the 1994 Street Rehabilitation Program "Reconstruction and Overlay"
in the amount of $1,851,323.39; and,
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1 increased the contract amount by $20,560.00 for
additional base materials for a portion of Babe Zaharias Drive increasing the contract
amount to $1,871,883.39; and
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2 is being requested to compensate the Contractor
for additional work due to changes in the scope of the work as follows:
1. Change in method of road resurfacing (seal coat to HMAC pavement) in
various streets throughout the City. This work was performed by increasing
the original Bid Quantity of Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete by 6,055.37 Tons at
a Bid Price of $28.15 per ton for a total of $170,458.67. The original
Estimated Quantity of Seal Coat was decreased by 32,625.13 Square Yards at
a Bid Price of$1.16 per Square Yard for a total of#37,845.50. Increase and
decrease in Estimated Quantities resulted in a total increase in the Contract
amount by $132,613.52.
2. Added Central and Sprott Parks to the reconstruction schedule. This work
performed by increasing the original Bid Quantity of Hot Mix Asphaltic
Concrete by 977.06 tons at a Bid Price of $28.15 for a total of $27,504.24.
This additional cost will be reimbursed from the Parks and Recreation
Department's budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute Change Order No. 2,
as stated above, with Bo-Mac Contractors, Inc in the amount of $160,117.76.
