WHEREAS, on September 8, 1994, Gulf States Utilities Company ("GSU") filed a
fuel surcharge case at the Public Utility Commission ("PUC"), Docket No. 13409; and,
WHEREAS, at issue in such case is GSU's fuel costs incurred for the period October
1, 1991- June 30, 1994; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to join with other cities to review such filing
and present such evidence as may be appropriate before the Public Utility Commission; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
THAT the City of Beaumont should join with other participating cities to review GSU's fuel
filing and to intervene at the Public Utility Commission, subject to the right to act
independently in the exercise of local regulatory authority. It is specifically understood that
this participation will not necessitate the expenditure of any funds from the City budget.
