WHEREAS, on October 23, 1985 the Judge of the County Court at Law No. 1 of Jefferson
County entered Judgment in Cause No. 46123 in favor of the City of Beaumont and against Martin-
Matthews, Inc. in the amount of$37,600.00 plus interest at nine percent (9%) per annum; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont filed an Abstract of Judgment Lien in the records of the
County Clerk of Jefferson County Texas filed for record on December 19, 1986; and,
WHEREAS, Martin-Matthews, Inc. has offered to pay to the City of Beaumont $37, 600.00
in settlement and satisfaction of the Judgment; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds this compromise to be satisfactory and it should be
accepted;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to accept $37,600.00 in compromise and
settlement of a Judgment entered in favor of the City of Beaumont in Cause No.46123 in the County
Court of Jefferson County at Law No. 1.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute
a Release of Judgment Lien releasing the Abstract of Judgment appearing in Film Code No. 10167
0494 of the records of the County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas filed for record on December 19,
1986.
