HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 92-229 X9,2-Z29 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on September 10, 1991, the City Council of the City of Beaumont awarded a contract in the amount of $1,994,318.48 to BO-MAC Contractors, Inc.of Beaumont for reconstruction and overlay of various streets throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1 approved by Council on November 5, 1991 increased the amount of the contract by $25,000.00 to compensate the contractor for increased costs as a result of changes in state sales tax law; and, WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2 has been prepared to reflect changes in the scope of the project as follows: 1. Excavate and dispose of unsuitable subgrade soil from areas of Folsom, Arthur, Odom and Lawrence Drive. Cost of this work is estimated to be $5,325.00. 2. Furnish and place goetextile reinforcement fabric to Hollywood Street to improve pavement life. Cost of this work is estimated to be $32,120.00. 3. Delete the SBS additive from the hot-mix asphalt. This deletion results in a reduction in price of$4.00 per ton of asphalt. It is estimated that 26,164.84 tons of asphalt will be affected by this change for a total estimated cost reduction of $104,659.36. 4. Add Thomas Road, Gladys to Delaware to the reconstruction schedule and Thomas Road, Calder to Gladys to the overlay schedule. Thomas Road was originally included in the 1991 Pavement Recycling Program but was found to be unsuitable for that process. Funding for this work in the amount of $83,989.14 is available in the recycling account. Reconstruction shall include removal and replacement of curb and gutter between Regina and Delaware. Total cost of this work is estimated to be $98,890.18. 5. Add Pevitot Road, Washington to Montrose to the schedule of streets to be reconstructed. Sections of this road were damaged as a result of oil well work. Exxon has agreed to pay 50% of the cost of this work which is estimated to be $40,092.08. 6. Add Humble Road, Major to Sandlin to the reconstruction schedule. This road was damaged as a result of oil well work in the area. Exxon has agreed to reimburse the City for 100% of the cost of this work which is estimated to be $9,244.57. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized, to execute Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $81,012.47 to BO-MAC Contractors, Inc. for the reasons stated above.
