RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lamar University has established a specific commitment to the
nation's space program through an innovative research effort dedicated to the discovery
of "helium-Y reservoirs on the moon; and
WHEREAS, the successful extraction and processing of this element exhibits the
potential for assisting in the production of pollutant-free energy for several centuries; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont and Lamar University wish to join together
in endorsing the goals of space exploration initiatives both today and in the future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT national space exploration initiatives are strongly supported, particularly those that
may lead the nation and the planet to a clean and stable energy future.
