RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Act of 1978 established a grant
program to assist communities in the rehabilitation of park and recreation systems; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, Texas has been determined eligible to apply for said
funds;
NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to submit an application for grant
assistance under the Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Program in the total amount of
$142,857 for an "At-Risk-Youth" Recreation Program, and to provide such information as may
be required with respect to the City's participation in the program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and is hereby authorized to
act as the official representative of the City and we do hereby certify that local matching funds
in the amount of $28,571 will be available for a period of two years beginning from the date
of receipt of said grant for purposes of guaranteeing the local "In-kind" component of the grant.
