RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Texas Urban Main Street Project has been instituted by the Texas
Historical Commission to help cities in the 50,000 and over population range revitalize
historic commercial areas through the development of public/private partnership efforts;
and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that the City of Beaumont support the
development and diversification of its economy through the Urban Main Street Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION 1. THAT the City of Beaumont endorses the application of BUILD, Inc., for
selection of Beaumont in the "Urban Main Street" program with the specific goal of
revitalizing a targeted business district within the context of the preservation and
rehabilitation of its historic buildings.
SECTION 2. THAT the City of Beaumont will co-fund a full-time Main Street Project staff
and commit financial support in the amount of $50,000 for the first year of the project.
